Hi All,
here is a reminder that we are starting our last class Friday at 8:30 am. in room 250.
We will go through the presentations in alphabetical order (class list).
Please come prepared to present your work via petcha kutcha style presentation (as explained in meetings and in previous email below). You may either upload it to the wiki or bring it in on a stick.
In order that this last class be timely, you should organize and rehearse your presentation to ensure it falls within the 6 minute time limit.

Please be on time for the 8:30 start, those late enough to miss their time slot will be pushed to the end (after all presentations and feedback forms -- peers will not be required to stay for those 'missed' presentations).
Thanks
Fiona
ps. as mentioned please update your wiki before April 16th. Those who are unable to upload or link their final iterations of their work while updating their wiki must submit a DVD of their project before April 18th.

Hi All,
our last class is this coming Friday (apr. 13th). You must attend at 8:30 am. All must attend.

We will be hearing short (!) 6 minute petcha kutcha presentations from each of you on your work. For those of you unfamiliar with petcha kutchas- they are a lot of fun. Some people prefer to use a power point as media for their petcha kutcha, but really you can do what you like as long as you show short excerpts of your work/images of process in an orderly fashion (be ready) and talk about how your work/research evolved or changed over the term. You can keep these simple, you do not have to use 20 images! For more info on Petcha Cutchas and to see an engaging example see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr0TrbAK-kQ
fyi, Jeff Hamada is a FVIM Alumni!). ps. he went on for over 7 minutes, but it will give you an idea. There are many others you can see, but this one is fun.
If you google Petcha Kutcha or visit http://www.pecha-kucha.org/
http://pecha-kucha.org/night/vancouver/

also make sure to update your wiki or blog before the 16th of April.

you will fill out feedback forms at the end of class.

thanks and see you next week
have a good Easter weekend
Fiona

Course Content (for this specific offering of the course)

Experimental Practices offers a supportive structure wherein students challenge their own methodologies and process. Students may consider, adapt and integrate methodologies outside their usual creative process or media to expand their current skill set or create emergent strategies or art forms. Experimentation is encouraged and supported within various media and disciplines, including but not limited to time-based media, performance, installation, visual art hybrid practices, public and social networking practices, interactive practices, research and text based practices. Students will take on projects extending from their own interests that will expand their understanding of their own artistic choices, conceptual proclivities and professional relationships. This expansion of repertoire is intended to enhance current studio and professional practice. A high level of self-directed activity is expected, along with online participation in presentations, critiques and feedback on the work and research of peers. Through discussions, one on one tutorials, demonstrations and student presentations, issues of experimental production are explored. Experimental Practices acts as a habitat and forum for a critical and artistic development of praxis. Students continue to refine their critical vocabulary, analytical and technical skills required for preparation for 4th year grad productions.

== Experimental Practices Online Community Philosophy
 ==

http://wiki.ecuad.ca/

This new wiki is the beginning of an ongoing community of individuals interested in Experimental Practice. You are encouraged as students to remain part of the community after your course and come back to see what new work is being undertaken here. Faculty are encouraged to start new pages if so inclined. You are welcome to continue to contribute feedback if you are motivated by research or work you find here. You are all encouraged to be an ongoing part of this community by also preserving your page (thereby your research, work and links): future students will benefit from your contributions to this online library of experimental practice. Hopefully with ongoing contributions across terms and years, this wiki will become a valuable research tool for current and past students alike. In successive terms/years, individuals visiting particular pages will be able to also see links to pages of that individuals cohort by visiting the class student links bottom of the page. Happy digging.

Re: 15 minute presentations of work in progress March 2nd and March 9th

Hi Everyone, it's been great keeping up with your projects both in person and on the wiki. I wanted to remind you that after reading break we will have two weeks of presentations so that everyone can see the progress of your work. Please have your wiki updated if need be. You may use the wiki for your presentation. You may want to bring in samples, have links ready for video or sound files, (or have files already loaded onto the computer in rm.250 as we have a tight schedule) and be ready to talk about your original premise, your process and where you see your work going next. We only have time for 15 minutes per person in order to get through everyone in two weeks. here is the schedule, all must attend in person: we will begin these classes at 08:30 am.
